Located in the bay area, Sho is a Michelin restaurant hidden among luxury apartments. The main entrance is

intentionally placed on the side of the building to avoid the hustling traffic out front. Light sources embedded in the

openings on both sides of the floor create a low- key and down- to- earth atmosphere. The overall brightness was

set to a minimum range to create a mood of shadowy tranquility for the entrance at night.

The stairway to the second floor uses subtractive design, where the only light sources are the LEDs hidden inside

the railings, giving the layers of the space a natural and poetic quality.

The gentle scattering of the discreet ceiling lights imbues a sense of subdued charm.

Behind the sushi bar are the designs of Japanese sliding doors. The LED wash lights placed at the back of the

designs shine upwards, combining with the natural light outside to adjust the dark and bright contrast of the dining

area.

Faintly discernible lights gently outline the display shelves and dishes, infusing the restaurant with a shadowy

emptiness reminiscent of traditional Japanese aesthetics.

The natural scattering of the inundate corner lights gives an artwork- like texture to the furnishings in the space.

The visual designs of the bar counter feature low- key, simple CRI 95 (color rendering) and 3000K (warm tonality)

lighting to enhance the texture of the food, the countenance of the customers, and the overall dining experience.

The adjustable color temperature of natural lights and 2700K LED strips are used to moderate the light contrast of

the bar and interior space, regulating the mood of the environment as well as the rhythm of the chef’s meal

preparation.

The contrast in brightness is purposely increased at restroom doorways, producing the silhouette of a Japanesestyle

lattice door and also providing an atmosphere of privacy.
