Zigong Wanda City Park

Zigong Wanda City Park is a space that can arouse people’s curiosity. The original site is a supporting parking lot of a high-density community. We made new and unconventional attempts and researches on the parking lot, broke through traditional thinking, reactivated auxiliary spaces and created three-dimensional spaces with multiple functions, providing an innovative design concept in urban design. commercial complex and residential areas were separated by the parking lot at the beginning of the site design. Therefore, the design proposed to transform the flat parking lot into a three-dimensional park with multiple functions, kept basic functions of the site and enhance its comprehensive functions, making the site an interactive combination of park, communities and business. “Let the park see and be seen, and make the park three-dimensional”, it considered the comprehensive effect on the society from the perspective of urban design.



The site planning made full use of the terrace height differences among commercial areas, communities and the parking lot, and boldly tried to build an aerial park system overhead the parking lot to form a three-dimensional parking lot space with multiple functions; connected commercial areas and the communities, activated the site and gave it commercial and social values; introduced diversified and multi-functional site to provide a series of rich and diverse dynamic and static spaces, designed with emotional bursts to improve the experience and interaction of the place, allowed people to participate in, freely stretched all emotions, activated the cool auxiliary spaces and gathered popularity so as to create a new feature between the parking lot and the park, and bring a close, flexible and transparent aerial park.



Zigong Wanda City Park is the first pioneering and comprehensive urban park in Zigong, Sichuan, China. From the perspective of municipal functions, it provides activities for different ages and features comprehensive characteristics of a city park ，meanwhile, it has both commercial and community features. In the future, it will be able to meet the diversified functions of business performances, gatherings, sports, etc. It is a complex space with high public participation.
