Falling Flowers Coloring the Green – A Musician Park

The project is a public green space located in Haimen District, Nantong City. As an important urban infrastructure and a key part of the “Garden City”initiative of Haimen, it contributes to the protection of urban ecology , improvement of urban environment and revaluation of the surrounding land, providing an amiable eco-space for recreation, fitness, cultural &leisure active to the neighborhoods. Meanwhile, the park is also a commemorative landscape space promoting the Jianghai culture of Haimen and showcasing the city’s cultural identity, which makes it a modern community park with dual attributes.

Following to the urban texture of Haimen District, the roads in this park are in north-south direction, complemented with orderly arrays of plants. It's a public theme park in honor of Chinese musician and Pipa player ShenZhaozhou (1858-1929). The project applies Fibonacci spiral in the composition of its core area, and takes music as the theme to create ten sceneries, together with which offering the visitors a fantastic cultural and music journey. In the center of the park, the Art Center is linked and enclosed with a series of inner courtyards , creating a simple and lively spatial order. On the boundaries, the park is efficiently connected to the surrounding communities with a number of gardens and squares.

With equal attention to ecological preservation and landscape design, the project adopts various plants for landscaping, with emphasis on local plants of"zelkova"(symbol tree of Haimen) and "Chinese rose" (symbol flower of Haimen). The project also gives full play to the multiple functions of the "sponge city" and leverages landscaping approaches to achieve seepage, stagnation, storage, purification, use and drainage of rainwater. Besides, the application of new materials and technologies enable us to achieve an economical and environmental-friendly solution.
