The elevations of the space are designed in grey and white colors; meanwhile, the rough and rustic of the grey concrete walls and the smooth and bright television wall have created a solid contrast to add layers to the overall. The plain colors of the elevations have created a simple sense for the limited space; the overall atmosphere emits a neat and elegant feeling. When users place items on the kitchen island, the unique stone grains of the furniture will be spreading out vivid and dynamic. Furthermore, the machine-cut island-themed wooden floorings, grey concrete walls, and window sceneries have maximized the rustic sense for the space. The organ curtains on the window decrease volume compared to typical curtains and give users more flexibility for particular use. The designer wanted to differentiate this project from ordinary interiors through new spatial arrangements and materials. To build a more suitable residence for modern citizens, the concept of “A living space that centers around the kitchen can bring the family closer” is practiced by using natural and eco-friendly elements and multi-layered elevation materials. The machine-cut island-themed wooden floorings are made from nature and only applied with reductive paints, making them more eco-friendly than common wooden floorings. At the same time, the concrete paints are also environmentally friendly. No decorative elements are used in this project to avoid using unnecessary resources. The IH oven is powered by pure energy and reduces heat during use, saving electricity caused by air conditioners. Since the residence is faced towards a park, it has an initial advantage of natural lighting. The designer set up expansive windows to draw daylight while placing the cabinets in areas where lightings can’t reach. This way, sunlight can shine into every corner of the house without obstacles, maximize brightness, and decrease electricity use. The ventilation door that connects the back balcony is not blocked by any design, allowing air to flow within the interior freely. When the living room windows are opened, the ventilation will be circulating from the front to the back.
