Surrounding by dense greenery of Tsuen Wan Park and Tsuen Wan Riveria Park, with landscaped gardens, seating areas and a selection of recreational and sports facilities, this large-scale waterfront residential development allows residents to enjoy the vibrant neighbourhood. Right next to it is the Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, which opened in 2018.
The brief was to ensure the majority of the apartments benefit from their location advantage to offer optimal sea views. Ample communal areas and shared facilities were also a key requirement.
Inspired by the brilliant sunset over the Rambler Channel, the project was conceived as a yacht in sail, embarking its journey towards the water under iridescent sunlight. The themes of ‘sunshine’ and ‘yachting’ was carried all the way from macro building form, elevation, interiors, down to micro details such as door handle and signage designs.
View/visual corridor is imposed in between two towers and on both sides of the site to maintain good visual and ventilation quality towards the city centre. Thus, visual connection with the waterfront and promenade can be maintained, while wall effects arising from long buildings can be avoided. In addition, both residential towers are setback from the promenade to create visual and spatial relief and buffer between the high-density development and the waterfront, so as to introduce a sense of harmonic connection between the buildings and the surroundings.
In short, one statement can conclude the design concept: “Integration of yacht design into architecture skillfully straddle the line between deconstruction and reconstruction, shaping the urban skyline with its distinctive brand of architecture and offering its own interpretations of sustainable vision in close proximity to vibrant waterfront”.
LWK + PARTNERS is the project’s Design Architect, Project Architect, Landscape Architect and Interior Designer.
