Oumuamua office table

Information transmission is an important means to get in touch with others. In 2017, an interstellar object to visit solar system was discovered for the first time in history. This object, later named 1I/'Oumuamua by International Astronomical Union, means “the first messenger from afar”. Till now, the information brought by 'Oumuamua is profound and glamorous. Via our worktable, we can transmit the information in daily life as well, and the designer hopes that the innovative design of the worktable can bring more enthusiasm and creativity to users on information transmission.

As for its appearance, the worktable applies the 10:1 length-width ratio of 1I/'Oumuamua, and uses a CNC machine to carve the solid wood and simulate the surface of this interstellar object; meanwhile, by using the same timber, the worktable can display continuous timber grain and exude the holistic beauty. Two pieces of 5cm thick transparent acrylic support the tabletop, creating a visual sense of suspension and making it similar to a star floating in the universe. Four tenon and mortise joints help combine the 12cm thick truss with the worktable, which makes the table more solid and durable and ensures the stability of this 160*80cm tabletop without deformation. Dovetail rail, integrated power supply, drawers and other product details prevent the office supplies from falling off the table, and thus provide more convenience for users to work in the modern workplace. Additionally, thanks to former equipment, electric devices can be well settled and stored for a tidy and comfortable working environment.
