Dimsum Meet

The idea of this project is based on the traditional Cantonese tea culture, adapted to the innovative needs of the contemporary young group, using a sophisticated and rigorous design vocabulary to create a diversified modern tea space that follows the culture and spirit of the lifestyle in the city.

In order to get rid of the stereotypical image of traditional refreshment, a minimalist and modern design concept has been adopted for the facade, with a unique logo and cute cartoon image, promoting the reform of traditional catering in a younger and fresh way. Instead of the conventional window displays, the designers have chosen to use window flowers and paper cut-outs with Chinese characteristics in the lively atmosphere into a lot of rich cultural connotation.

Considering the tea habits of Cantonese diners, the classic round-table design is retained in the lobby area, with a neat and orderly layout that does not deliberately emphasize the sense of vicissitudes and imprint of the years. The vibrant orange and peacock blue colors on the original wood are intertwined with the hand-painted IP images on the ordering counter, and classic dishes such as shaomai (traditional Chinese food), shrimp dumplings, egg tarts and barbecued pork are transformed into "food dolls". The food products, which are integrated into daily life, were presented at the booth with novel anthropomorphic images, taking into account the traditional category market while reaching out to the aesthetic interests of young consumers.

Walking through the lobby, you will reach the booth area, where less elements are present. This area brings down the upbeat atmosphere in the lobby to a more ambient one. The designer, with deep understanding on lines and space, divides the open space into relatively independent dining areas with radian curves so that residents can enjoy a leisurely tea rest. Cute cartoon characters scattered around the seats, subtly building the brand deep image into people’s hearts while enriching their dining experience.

The wall is painted in peacock blue with a strong contrast to the orange and yellow, which makes the area an elegant and poetic art form.
