This case is a residential interior design project. As the proprietor family are all structural engineers, with unique understanding of Chinese traditional architectural space, the case should manifest the romantic feelings in traditional Chinese designs, in addition to meeting the functional needs of the family. It will also integrate modernity with tradition to create the unique charm of the new Chinese style living space.
Though stemming from the traditional Chinese classical culture, the new Chinese style is in no way mere stacking of traditional elements. The designer incorporates Chinese style decorative elements, such as lines, colors, shapes, and wooden grilles, into the modern design, to foster an aesthetic sentiment that conforms to the requirements of modern life, display the rich oriental Zen style, and pile up creative aesthetics.
At the hallway, the designer adopts light shade walls to set off a wooden table, upon which a pine-tree-shaped ornament is placed. With plain and yet tight linear configuration, it goes well with symmetrical retro floor lamps to echo a circular landscape mural.
The parlor in the underground floor ingeniously applies a lattice ceiling to harmonize the window lattices and curio boxes on both sides. While highlighting the floor height, the crystal chandelier in the middle brings a touch of graceful, dynamic vitality to the square space. The rear of the curio boxes shines with palace wall vermilion red, which, partially coupled with blue and green furniture and murals, is permeated with magnificent, ingenious elegance. The tearoom, taking the black, white and gray tone, features a background of tile coarse grain texture pattern, which, matched with the royal palace wall vermilion red, looks moderate and graceful in the overall shape, characterized with rich layers that are seemingly thick but not heavy.
