About The Entry
This project represents a profound life transition, as the client moved from a 330m2 multi-generational estate to a 100m2 residence shared with an elderly parent and a pet. Entrusted to The Brix Lab due to a long-standing professional partnership, the mission was to integrate a lifetime of heritage—including classical furniture and a premier wine collection—into a compact, barrier-free environment that honors both Eastern aesthetics and modern sustainability.
Strategic Innovation: Parallel-Path Execution
The primary challenge was an exceptionally aggressive 2.5-month timeline. To achieve this, The Brix Lab implemented a "Design-Build Parallel" model. By initiating demolition during the final design phase, utilizing off-site modular carpentry prefabrication, and securing special permits for silent weekend assembly, the team demonstrated elite project management and technical "Know-How"—a core pillar of the brand.
Design Philosophy & Aesthetic Integration
The interior serves as a canvas for Eastern soul. The focal point is a bespoke television wall finished in specialized paint with textures and rhythmic slatted shelving; when opened, it mimics the unfolding of a traditional Chinese landscape scroll. This design language seamlessly incorporates the client’s cherished antiques, bridging the gap between past memories and a new chapter of life.
Responsive Aging & Functionality
Guided by the "Responsive Aging" principle, the home features a holistic barrier-free layout. We prioritized safety without sacrificing style, installing high-slip-resistance, easy-clean flooring and discreet structural handrails. A multifunctional bar and mobile cart system were integrated to support the client’s passion for oenology, creating a versatile social hub.
Sustainability & The BRIX Standard
Consistent with our commitment to global wellness, the project adheres to US Green Building standards, LEED, and our proprietary BRICK framework:
• Building Health
• Responsive Aging
• Intelligent Light
• Certified Compliance
• Know-How
The design strive for engineer sustainable, tech-forward sanctuaries that reflect our dedication to social responsibility and the pursuit of a healthier living.
