About The Entry

Orthodontic progress happens gradually, yet remains largely invisible between appointments. During long treatment cycles, patients often have limited feedback on whether meaningful changes are occurring, creating uncertainty and making it difficult to recognize progress over time. For adult patients in particular, this lack of visibility can reduce confidence and engagement throughout treatment.

ORTHOVUE is an at-home orthodontic progress monitoring system designed to make this between-appointment period more measurable and understandable.

Through a standardized 30-second bite, a flexible distributed piezoresistive sensor array embedded within a food-grade LSR interface captures the relative spatial distribution of occlusal pressure. Repeated sessions create a longitudinal home record, which the companion app translates into intuitive pressure visualizations and progress trends.

Rather than replacing professional diagnosis, ORTHOVUE serves as a supplementary follow-up tool between appointments. Patients can review gradual changes and receive clear visual and haptic confirmation during each session, while longitudinal records can be shared with orthodontists for remote review and more informed follow-up.

The system integrates the handheld monitor, BLE connectivity, magnetic wireless charging and storage, and a patient–clinician digital workflow into one simple routine: detach, bite, sync, review, rinse, and recharge.

By transforming otherwise invisible changes in bite-pressure patterns into an understandable longitudinal record, ORTHOVUE bridges the feedback gap between appointments and shifts orthodontic treatment from passive waiting toward informed participation.
