This interior design project is driven by a deep insight into the spiritual needs of the elderly, conceived as an elegant dialogue between the dignified spatial order of traditional Beijing and the sophisticated modernity of the Shanghai style. It aims to create a sanctuary that seamlessly blends cultural roots with contemporary warmth, all bathed in abundant natural light and vitality.

The interior planning preserves the central axis, sequence, and sense of enclosure characteristic of traditional Beijing courtyards, establishing a spatial order that provides psychological security for seniors. The details boldly incorporate Shanghai-style modernity and exquisite craftsmanship. This fusion strikes a balance between heritage and innovation. Upon entering, residents immediately find a sense of belonging rooted in cultural heritage through the macro layout; meanwhile, the refined materials and human-centric details offer a constant sense of surprise and dignity, reflecting a life tenderly embraced by the modern era.

The interior color palette translates the urban heritage of Beijing into a therapeutic visual system, reshaping the emotional tone of the space. Cinnabar Red, drawing from the ancient palace walls, is applied with restraint. Rather than being overpowering, it gently awakens warm memories and sparks joy. Autumn Fragrant Yellow, inspired by the lustrous glow of autumn leaves and glazed tiles, establishes a bright visual foundation, perfectly fulfilling the psychological yearning for an ambiance bathed in sunlight. Complementing these warm tones, Ludai Blue and Liuli Qing are derived from the glazes of the Temple of Heaven and Beihai’s skyline. They infuse the interiors with a touch of tranquility, balancing the visual temperature while elevating the artistic texture and serene atmosphere.

The interior design also deeply resonates with Beijing’s environmental rhythms—fleeting yet precious sunshine and greenery. It transcends the limitations of passive daylighting, seamlessly integrating a dynamic lighting narrative with ecological micro-circulation. By weaving the changing seasons and shifting skylight into the interior, the space itself transforms into a breathing, living vessel, allowing the healing power of nature to permeate its residents’ daily life.
