Little Diary

The beauty of a diary lies not in recording extraordinary moments, but in preserving the subtle traces of everyday life. Designed for a family of four, this residence draws inspiration from the passage of childhood, transforming the soft texture of turning pages, the warmth of paper, and the delicate impressions left by handwritten memories into a refined spatial language.

A palette of layered whites—including ivory, cream, and warm off-white—creates a calm and timeless atmosphere. By avoiding highly saturated colors, the home becomes like a blank yet meaningful journal, patiently waiting for the two sisters to fill its pages through play, learning, and the memories they create together.

The project's defining feature is the relationship between the public living area and the study. The kitchen island, originally positioned beside the kitchen, was relocated to the dining area, evolving from a simple food preparation surface into the social heart of the home. Here, children can draw and do homework while parents prepare meals, allowing cooking, dining, conversation, and family interaction to unfold naturally within one shared space rather than being separated into individual zones.

Viewed from the living room, the softly curved cabinetry serves as the visual focal point, while the study resembles the folded corner of a diary page—quietly framing daily family life. A window-side platform provides a cozy setting for reading, resting, or playing with building blocks. When grandparents or guests stay overnight, the concealed pull-out mechanism transforms the platform into a comfortable double bed, allowing the space to adapt effortlessly between everyday family living and hospitality.
