About The Entry

Located in Surkhandarya, Uzbekistan, this combined cycle power plant project efficiently converts natural gas into electricity, with a total installed capacity of 1,600 MW. Employing 9000HL heavy-duty gas turbines and next-generation combined-cycle power generation technology, it boasts a thermal efficiency of up to 64%—standing as one of the most efficient power plants in the world. Through highly efficient and stable energy conversion, the project effectively addresses local power shortages and power supply instability.

The overall planning is based on the combined-cycle power generation workflow, creating a safe, efficient, and low-maintenance spatial order by systematically organizing key areas such as the gas turbine area, steam turbine area, and cooling system area. Each area is clearly zoned around the thermal process, energy conversion, cooling cycle, power output, and O&M (operations and maintenance) management. This layout not only ensures the efficient linkage of the power generation system but also accommodates the needs of personnel access, equipment inspection, material transportation, and fire evacuation.

In terms of architectural design, the project achieves a unity of regional adaptability and industrial order through the careful control of form, scale, and color. The overall structure is shaped with simple straight lines and geometric blocks. The color palette is tailored to the Gobi environment: the beige facade offers solar resistance, dust protection, and heat reflection to mitigate the heat island effect, while the creamy white interior fosters a clean, bright spatial atmosphere. Moreover, different materials are utilized to create sharp textural contrasts, clearly defining distinct functional areas while meeting industrial requirements like waterproof, anti-seepage, and anti-static protection.

As for sustainability, the project adopts a modular, demountable construction, which facilitates easy maintenance and material sorting and recycling. This facility not only drives the transformation of the local energy structure but also further enhances regional energy security, delivering comprehensive value as a model for economic growth, ecological restoration, public welfare, and international collaboration.
