About The Entry
Located on a riverside site in Jiang’an District, Wuhan, Greentown Rose Garden sits between the historic fabric of Hankou and the Yangtze River waterfront. Here, the city’s layered past meets the openness of the river, giving rise to a spatial condition shaped by a sense of “temporal layering” — at once rooted in the city and oriented toward a continuously shifting natural edge.
As one of Greentown’s most established residential product lines, Rose Garden is reinterpreted in response to this context. The project begins with a fundamental inquiry: how can a restrained yet refined way of living be rearticulated in contemporary space? This question forms the starting point of the design.
In exploring this notion of “restrained elegance,” a more enduring spatial logic gradually emerges — one that does not rely on explicit stylistic expression, but instead resonates with a long-standing order of living. Within this framework, classical French aesthetics can be understood as a reference: not as a stylistic template, but as a body of accumulated spatial knowledge grounded in proportion, order, and rhythm.
From this perspective, an underlying system of proportion, spatial rhythm, and lived experience begins to take shape within the project.
The design unfolds under the concept of “Dwelling by the Water.” Rather than being represented literally, water is translated into an implicit spatial order — one defined by flow, extension, and enclosure. This is ultimately perceived through movement and pause: circulation is gently guided rather than imposed, allowing orientation to emerge naturally.
