Desire

Desire is a pair of eyeglasses that also functions as a theatrical body device. Inspired by the moment when people gaze at the God of Wealth in a temple and silently make wishes, it transforms the collective act of “praying for fortune” into a wearable art form.

As eyeglasses, it serves as both a medium for seeing the world and a vessel for projected desires. Traditional eyelashes become upward-reaching hands, layered like devotees praying. The eyeballs are shaped like ancient Chinese coins, visually merging “seeing wealth” with “desiring wealth.” An optical magnifying lens is placed before each eye, enlarging the hands of the God of Wealth during viewing—symbolizing how the craving for wealth expands. Below the glasses, jade pieces and chains form teardrops that gently sway with the wearer’s movements, evoking the complex, devout emotional state of one who prays.

Starting from the form of eyeglasses, Desire explores the subtle and real relationships among faith, wealth, and desire.
