About The Entry

The project is located in the core area of the Eco-City, Tianjin, bordered by the Jiyun River to the north, the Bohai Sea to the south, and Ganluxi Park to the east, offering rare natural landscape resources within an urban context. Guided by the theme “Boundless Nature · Urban Garden”, the design seeks to dissolve site boundaries, allowing greenery to permeate daily life and enabling an integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. The vision is to create a Singapore-inspired garden community where dwelling itself becomes an elevated spatial experience.

Design Inspiration

The concept draws from the cultural heritage of the Hai River and the aesthetics of Singaporean tropical gardens. Using the river network of Tianjin’s Hai River as a conceptual foundation, flowing curves are abstracted as the primary design language, translating hydrological patterns into a structured garden landscape. Through multi-layered three-dimensional spatial organization, the project establishes a symbiotic relationship between architecture and nature, delivering an immersive garden experience.

Design Strategy

The approach adopts a contemporary urban garden strategy. The material palette features coffee-toned metallic finishes to express a refined architectural character. Ground surfaces use grey stone-effect tiles and off-white terrazzo, while façades are finished in off-white matte marble, establishing a restrained and cohesive visual identity.

Site Challenges

The site is addressed through the strategic use of significant level differences, transforming topographical constraints into defining spatial features. These variations are reinterpreted as spatial landmarks that reinforce the design intent of dissolving boundaries and integrating landscape with architecture.

Landscape Approach

The landscape is inspired by Singapore’s vertical greening strategies, extending vegetation from the ground plane to building façades. Multi-level planting terraces and cascading water features are introduced, resolving elevation changes while enhancing the immersive quality of the garden environment.

Project Value

The strategy lies in maximizing the potential of surrounding scarce natural resources to elevate community quality and long-term value. The design also introduces efficient landscape systems that reduce maintenance demands, supporting sustainable operational performance.
