Cloud Trees & Cloud Puncher

Oklahomans have a special relationship with the expansive skies above their city built on the rich, red soil of the earth below them. This dynamic relationship is life affirming yet riddled with caution. In Cloud Trees, the artists present these two forces in natural harmony at a powerful scale, producing a euphoric, uplifting experience. Viewers can stand amid the three bronze tree trunks with a mirror-polished stainless steel cloud formation above and look up with feet pressing into the earth as the community hums by, to see the vast sky above engaging with the sculpture and ground below.

The indomitable spirit of Oklahomans fuels Cloud Puncher. The larger-than-life cowboy ropes a stray cloud perched on the second-floor balcony of the Lively Hotel to lead it back to the Cloud Trees installation on the other side of Heartwood Park. Viewers are invited to join Cloud Puncher in his sense of lofty accomplishment as they cheer for his success in wrangling an orphan cloud to bring it home.
