TONGLING AREADI GARDEN HOTEL

Rooted in the millennia-old bronze civilization and Huizhou cultural heritage of Tongling, the project explores a contemporary hospitality experience that connects regional identity with modern lifestyles. The design draws inspiration from the city’s historical memory and architectural traditions, transforming cultural elements into a refined spatial language that integrates heritage, artistry, and contemporary comfort.

Moving beyond conventional hotel functions, the project redefines hospitality through a multi-dimensional lifestyle experience. Centered around the concept of an “Enchanted Garden,” the design creates a sequential journey through artistic lounges, themed dining areas, and private retreat spaces. Through layered spatial organization, immersive scenes, and carefully controlled atmospheres, guests experience changing perspectives and emotional transitions throughout the space. The hotel becomes not only a place for accommodation, but also a destination for social interaction, art appreciation, leisure, and urban escape.

The renovation faced challenges including an aging facade, fragmented building forms, and insufficient spatial coherence. Working within the existing structural framework, the design reinterprets the architectural character through the principles of classical mansion composition. The facade is refined with disciplined proportions and material layering, while red brick textures enhance depth, warmth, and a sense of architectural permanence. The renewed building establishes a stronger visual identity while achieving harmony between classical references and contemporary expression.

Within the interiors, the design focuses on the relationship between spatial sequences, material textures, and atmospheric experience. Traditional cultural references are not directly replicated but transformed through modern design methods, allowing history and contemporary aesthetics to coexist naturally. The result is a distinctive hospitality environment that reflects local cultural character while responding to the evolving expectations of modern travelers.

By balancing cultural preservation with innovative spatial experiences, the project creates a new model for high-quality urban resort hospitality. It enhances the connection between architecture, culture, and tourism, offering a meaningful exploration of how regional heritage can be revitalized through contemporary design.
