About The Entry
Positioned along the Yangtze River in Nanjing, the project creates a high-end riverside living experience through a refined dialogue between local cultural heritage, natural landscape and contemporary aesthetics. Inspired by the cultural legacy of Jinling and the poetic imagery of the Yangtze River and moonlight, the design translates the rhythm of flowing water and shimmering river light into an immersive spatial narrative, avoiding the rigid application of traditional Chinese symbols.
Guided by the concept of “Tracing Origins & Breaking Boundaries, Guided by River & Moon, Rooted in Humanity” and the theme of “Integration & Symbiosis,” the design integrates architecture, hard furnishings and soft furnishings into a cohesive whole. Abstract river-and-moon imagery runs throughout the soft furnishing system, connecting the interior with the outdoor river scenery and creating a relaxed, poetic atmosphere.
A restrained palette of beige and light coffee tones forms the foundation, accented by ink black, gilt gold, teal and yellow. Customized fabrics, artwork and layered lighting work together to evoke the subtle movement of moonlight across the river. Rather than relying on ornate traditional styling or excessive luxury materials, the design establishes a sense of refinement through material texture, light and shadow, proportion and humanistic atmosphere.
The project also embraces a sustainable approach by incorporating low-VOC recyclable fabrics and cost-conscious eco-materials. Careful coordination of materials, lighting and soft furnishings ensures visual continuity while responding to practical requirements such as natural daylight, spatial permeability and commercial presentation.
Ultimately, the design seeks to move beyond stylistic imitation, translating the cultural spirit and natural poetry of the Jinling waterfront into a contemporary language. Through restrained expression and integrated design, it creates a distinctive riverside environment where nature, culture and modern life coexist.
