XIAMEN JOY CITY

As COFCO's flagship "Joy City" project and the brand's first in Fujian, Xiamen Joy City sits by Xinglin Bay in Jimei New Town. Its interior is conceived around the motif of an "Island Eden" — weaving the warmth of Minnan culture and the vastness of the ocean into space, with light as the guiding thread of the entire narrative.

By day, sunlight pours through the glazed roof, tracing shifting boundaries of light and shadow across the curved arcades and drifting with passing clouds — the unhurried mood of a "half-day escape." Curved light strips unfold along the ceiling like a rising tide line, quietly following the building's contour. Escalators in gradient, mirror-like blue catch the surrounding glow and dissolve it into a shallow azure; light flows along the steps like seawater lapping the shore, lending a liquid rhythm to the stroll.

At night, illumination climbs from the ground floor to the rooftop, rising through the levels like a tide. In the "Half-Sea Space," a mirror-like water surface holds stars and lights; ripples shatter the glow into glints, while planted gardens flicker with star-point fixtures like offshore fishing lanterns. In the "Half-Day Space," a full-height glass facade draws lake and nightscape indoors — warm amber light tracing the grain of Minnan red brick, cool glazing refracting into blue; warmth and coolness interweave into a tranquil nightscape unique to Xiamen, the "Island of Egrets."

Light neither shouts nor sprawls. With restrained intervention, it follows the building's grain, weaving local culture and natural landscape into everyday commerce — so that every pause feels like standing in the sea breeze and moonlight of Xiamen, offering a luminous model for commercial interiors where artistic expression and human warmth coexist.
