Breaking Boundaries

This project breaks the barriers of conventional design styles, integrating the aesthetic essences of retro French and Mid-Century styles to reconstruct an ideal residential space suited for contemporary living, achieving a harmonious balance between classical aesthetics and modern family life. Grounded in timeless French aesthetics, the space establishes a romantic and refined atmosphere through elegant curved vaulted ceilings and delicate plaster moldings. Structured continuous arched doorways and vintage Roman columns softly separate active and quiet zones, forming a smooth circulation path that enhances spatial openness and walking comfort.

Rejecting excessive accumulation of classical ornamentation, the design infuses the structured classical framework with the warm texture of mid-century furniture, endowing the space with warmth and depth. Flooring throughout the space adopts warm and rustic parquet, paired with understated velvet sofas to set a gentle tone. Soft furnishings including dark green open bookshelves, blue-and-white ceramic displays, and wood-stone combined coffee tables provide orderly storage for daily belongings and art collections, embedding aesthetic decoration into everyday scenarios.

The color palette is restrained yet layered. Soft off-white serves as the base tone, deep blue forms the visual anchor, and natural wood tones reconcile warm and cool textures to create a visual effect blending rigidity and softness. The design reduces functional limitations imposed by hard finishes. A faux fireplace acts as the central visual focal point to strengthen spatial ritual sense. Slim black-framed glass doors connect the dining area with light sources, flooding the interior with natural light and lending dynamic beauty to the space through light and shadow.

Rather than mechanically replicating classical forms, the project extracts the laid-back spirit of classical aesthetics. It transforms refined aesthetics from cold decorative elements into tangible, perceptible daily texture. Balancing artistic expression and practical residential value, the residence delivers both artistic presentation and living inclusiveness, evolving into a modern living space with refined taste and everyday warmth.
