About The Entry
Traditional packaging for brain-health dietary supplements is trapped in homogenized design tropes. Designers often rely heavily on gilding, red ribbon motifs and dense ingredient specifications to manufacture a sense of “authoritative evidence”, while deliberately adopting visual language reminiscent of pharmaceutical products. This aesthetic reinforces consumer stereotypes, confining such products to an elderly-only positioning and overshadowing the ingredient’s scientific background and brand narrative.
The key raw material of this product, Acer Truncatum seed oil, was approved as a novel food resource by China’s former Ministry of Health back in 2011. Centered around the design theme Flow Your Mind, this project breaks free from conventional pharmaceutical-style visual frameworks.
Its core visual icon features a brain network constructed from nodes and fine lines, wrapped within an incomplete ring. This single symbol evokes neural networks, molecular structures, and the characteristic winged shape of Acer Truncatum seeds. The design focuses on communicating the concept of “connection” through symbolic storytelling, with no hints of healing or therapeutic effects.
The primary carton uses plain white cardboard. The brain network graphic is rendered with gradient silver hot stamping. Soft pale blue accents decorate the box top and spine. Oversized vertical English lettering on the spine ensures strong shelf visibility even from side-facing display. The crisp, structured Chinese logotype sits above the fluid handwritten script “Flow Your Mind”, creating visual contrast between rational science and fluid thinking.
Diamond-knurled aluminium blister packs form the inner packaging, individually sealing each translucent amber gel candy. Single-dose encapsulation turns casual daily consumption into a clearly quantified ritual. Embodied in restrained, minimalist scientific aesthetics, this design disrupts entrenched visual habits within the category. It resonates with younger new consumers while remaining suitable for pharmacy retail, expanding the product’s audience reach.
