Living in the concrete jungles, many contemporary urbanites crave a secluded, idyllic life. Though it is hard to live a leisurely rural life in modern society, it’s possible to find a tranquil and elegant courtyard dwelling in the city.



CITY VILLA is a residential community embracing lush mountains in Suichang County, Lishui City. Supported by efficient future living facilities, it is intended to create convenient modern living environment full of peacefulness and poetry.



The master planning of the residential development fully respects the plot’s terrain features and responds to its natural setting with a humble attitude. Referring to the unique fabrics of Jiangnan water towns, the building clusters are organized in a way of being connected by four horizontal and three vertical alleys. The master planning offers the dwellers a unique experience exclusive to Jiangnan classical gardens, as the view changes at every step when rambling in the residential community.



The project aims to give a modern interpretation of courtyard life for contemporary urbanites. The architectural design breaks the stereotype about courtyard residences. Compared with conventional courtyard houses constructed with white walls and gray tiles, the project creates a group of courtyard villas with exquisite details and premium textures, to fit into modern people’s aesthetics. In this project, the designers conveyed traditions with modern expressions.



The building facades adopt large areas of glass, which blends the outdoor environment with the interior and weakens the sense of boundary. The well-tailored eaves and the refined overhanging structures make the facades appear more dynamic, whilst also enriching the layering of the buildings. Besides, with elegant grey and silver as main tones, the villas reveal a pastel and elaborate facade style, and cater to modern people’s pursuit of details. Moreover, the embellishment of wood-colored metal materials brings dwellers a sense of tranquil, graceful and warm comfort.
