ECRU is derived from the French word "Écru," describing the color of linen as "raw" and "unbleached," elegantly capturing the essence of its original form.



Situated in Taipei's busy East District, Écru Restaurant aims to offer a relaxed and serene dining experience. The entrance design, featuring a corridor, initiates a shift in spatial perception from the urban buzz to tranquility. Following a guided path, the open area unfolds, with the focal point being the open kitchen at the bottom. This central area seamlessly integrates the cooking process into the dining experience, engaging diners through the sounds of ingredient preparation and the enticing aroma of dishes.



The heart of French cuisine lies in accentuating the authentic flavors of fresh ingredients, adopting pure cooking methods, and presenting the chef's intricate plate artistry, reflecting an elegant and unhurried lifestyle. The brand's concept echoes the ethos of French culinary culture, emphasizing natural, simple, and primitive organic forms. The use of pure and tranquil materials minimizes excess embellishment, returning to the essence of objects, prioritizing the sensory experience of food, and revealing nuanced layers and details.



The space maintains the natural texture of the original cement building, incorporating irregular-patterned stones in certain areas and utilizing weathered wooden materials with historical traces. This fusion of natural elements establishes a harmonious connection with the environment. The walls, adorned with a beige-colored paint featuring mottled textures, envelop the entire space, reminiscent of French plating art. The pairing of tableware and ingredients recounts the chef's memories and experiences with French culinary delights.
