The lighting environment optimization project is located in Lukang Township, central Taiwan, spanning a 1.5-kilometer section of the upstream Lukang Creek Waterside Park. It is situated near Lukang Longshan Temple, Mazu Temple, and Lukang Old Street, all of which are deeply connected to the area's geography and rich historical and cultural heritage.

The project optimized lighting for nine bridges within the site, using linear lighting hidden under guardrails and stair railings to connect the bridges. This creates a rich spatial hierarchy and beautiful landscape views. The "Caiyuan Overpass," the site’s largest landmark, along with the unique "River Island," showcases varying moods throughout the seasons, thanks to dynamic lighting systems.

At the western starting point of the waterway, "Kaiyuan Plaza" and the "Crescent Bridge" create a highly “water-friendly” space, offering picturesque nighttime scenes.

Additionally, key features include the mullet roe slide and pumping station near “Sail Plaza,” whose facades are wrapped in hollowed-out calligraphy characters. This design highlights Lukang’s rich tradition in calligraphy, a cultural practice that continues to thrive today. Nighttime lighting emphasizes these calligraphic elements, with custom-shaped lanterns along the waterfront enhancing the cultural heritage.

The pedestrian walkway’s lighting is another focus, where traditional flower window patterns have been incorporated into custom-designed light covers. These classical elements allow standard landscape lights to blend seamlessly with the environment, enhancing the scenic corridor at night.

Despite modern facilities dominating the area after river remediation, this project successfully uses lighting to convey and celebrate Lukang’s historical and cultural atmosphere. By balancing functional lighting needs with cultural and environmental sustainability, the optimized lighting environment has enhanced the "Lukang Creek Waterside Corridor," offering more possibilities for activities and fostering a deeper connection between people and the environment, revitalizing the historic Lukang Creek.
