Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport Phase III

The goal of the Lanzhou T3 Terminal, also known as "Silk Dance to the Sky, Golden River Oasis," is to establish a new paradigm for airport design by fusing the grandeur of the Yellow River with the storied Silk Road. The Yellow River's meandering flow serves as an inspiration for the terminal's roof and ceiling architecture, which combine with the concourse's sweeping arcs to represent the meeting point of the past and the present.



The design cleverly incorporates the flowing patterns of the Yellow River and the dynamic curves of flying into the terminal's architecture, drawing inspiration from both the majestic beauty of the river and the millennia-old Silk Road history. The exterior is reminiscent of a dynamic mural, with classic colors taken from Dunhuang murals. This pays homage to heritage while bringing modern and futuristic elements into the area.



The five main themes that run through the terminal's interior design are "Modern," "Silk Essence," "Global," "Technology," and "Nine Curves." The Yellow River is abstracted into flowing ribbons and pixelated water patterns from the check-in hall to the concourse and from the waiting hall to the arrival hall. The diamond-shaped patterns of Gansu colorful ceramics are softly embellished throughout. This collection of thoughtfully curated cultural exhibits and installation art pieces not only beautifies the area but also tells the history of this location in great detail.



Using low-carbon and environmentally friendly materials, intelligent guidance systems, and humanized spatial layouts to enhance spatial orientation and recognition, we are dedicated to realizing the concept of a "Safe, Green, Smart, and Humanistic" airport in every detail. This will enable travelers to feel warm and at ease even during their rushed travels.
