Located in the heart of the old city district, Chaichang Alley is bordered to the north by the national heritage site of Qiu Jin's former residence. Along its central axis lies the former residence of Zhu Geng, with the Fengjia Tai Gate ruins to the west, the No. 9 East Alley ruins to the east, and the Chaichang Alley site to the south. This plot is a blend of architectures from various eras and styles, including Ming Dynasty relics, ancient Ming and Qing buildings, modern civilian homes, and collective housing from the 80s and 90s. The area is surrounded by thriving commercial activity. The commercial space we have developed here is high-end and niche, designed to offer a differentiated experience from the surrounding commercial offerings. Its most distinctive feature, setting it apart from other historical and cultural commercial streets, is that it preserves a significant number of historical and cultural relics and focuses on their protection and conservation. Not only does this site have many historical stories, but it is also poised to host many more events in the future. Chaichang Alley is located in the central area of Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, bordered to the north by Hechangtang, to the east by Jiefang South Road, and close to the INTIME CITY block to the west and south. The total land area is approximately 19,607 square meters, with a landscape design area of about 9,019.22 square meters. The entire site is situated within the core commercial district of Shaoxing—within the Jiefang Road commercial circle, benefiting from convenient transportation and a high volume of pedestrian traffic. This brings significant advantages in both pedestrian flow and transportation to the project. The retained elements of the site from the renovation, such as "Ming and Qing dynasty architecture," "modern architecture," and "interstitial plants," belong to different time periods and represent a continuous timeline—an ordered time. In contrast, the irregularly shaped site left after the demolition of old, decrepit buildings represents disordered space.
