Eclosion is an innovative modular planter designed to address the decline of the monarch butterfly population while serving as an elegant piece of furniture for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Inspired by the critical need to preserve butterfly habitats, Eclosion merges functionality, sustainability, and ecological awareness, offering users a dynamic way to cultivate plants, raise butterflies, and engage with nature. Crafted from recycled wheat plastic and milkweed floss fabric, Eclosion emphasizes the use of sustainable materials that reduce environmental impact. The wheat plastic offers a biodegradable alternative to traditional wood, minimizing deforestation and carbon emissions. The milkweed floss fabric, sourced from the host plants of monarch butterflies, plays a key role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for the butterflies within the planter. The forms of the modular units are inspired from the form of each stage of monarch butterfly which is egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly. Also, each unit can be arranged in various configurations, allowing users to customize the planter according to their space and design preferences.
