Luminous Quadrangle seamlessly integrates modern design with the classic layout of a traditional quadrangle, fostering a harmonious dialogue between modernity and tradition through an open-plan design rich in light and shadow. It provides residents with an unparalleled natural living environment.
Representing a significant aspect of traditional Chinese culture, the quadrangle embodies the principles of propriety and familial bonds. Luminous Quadrangle employs large glass panels to break down the barriers of conventional quadrangle courtyards, redefining the enclosed courtyard with a contemporary, open aesthetic. This approach pays homage to tradition, and examines how historical architecture can be adapted to suit modern living.
Furthermore, Luminous Quadrangle leverages clean lines and natural illumination to accentuate the functional qualities of space, embodying a resistance to ornate decoration and industrial aesthetics. The generous influx of light imbues each floor with greater spatial depth, while also crafting distinct atmospheres and settings within the interiors. Moreover, the incorporation of extensive natural materials such as wood and stone elevates the sense of naturality, complemented by the use of sustainable resources like recycled wood, eco-friendly paints, and adhesives to lessen environmental impact and carbon emissions. The four-story villa integrates open staircases, glass facades and the classic courtyard layouts, which effectively fosters natural ventilation pathways, thereby reducing reliance on air conditioning.
This novel design blurs the boundaries that separate the structure from its environs, illustrating the intricate relationship between humans and nature, as well as tradition and modernity. The expansive, airy space not only provides a cozy environment for residents, but also connects with the subtle interplay between light-shadow effects and Luminous Quadrangle, achieving a harmonious unity in content and form.
