Developed by New York-based developer JDS Development Group, Monad Terrace is composed of 59 individually-designed waterfront residences, including four penthouses, by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel in collaboration with Miami-based Kobi Karp. Located on the bay side of the island of Miami Beach, its unique honeycomb sawtooth façade provides brilliant light and expansive private outdoor space sheltered by climbing gardens of native plants and flowers. Residences are sheltered by these climbing gardens that feature native Bougainvillea and Passion Vines, and shaded by high-tech screens embedded in the façade to precisely calibrate shade and privacy. The design artfully directs the play of daylight and water throughout the project. Individual reflecting pools bounce dappled light deep into each living space, while the signature water garden—the central lagoon, reflection pools and adjacent swimming pool create a sense of continuity with Biscayne Bay. Light and water, glass and steel, gardens and façades all combine into what Jean Nouvel has dubbed “the reflection machine.”
French-Moroccan interior designer, Rita Chraibi of International Designers reveals the design of the first completed residence at Monad Terrace spanning 5,193 square feet (3,350 interior, 1,843 exterior) featuring four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a custom Gaggenau kitchen and a 42-foot deep terrace with a Bayfront reflecting pool. The residence highlights Rita’s signature style which uniquely fuses interior and fashion design to humanize the space. An ambassador for renowned French furniture manufacturer Roche Bobois, Rita was inspired by the furnishings of haute couture fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection for the manufacturer and curated furniture designs exclusively from this collection. By default, the residence reflects the most exceptional aspects of haute couture high-fashion and is an ode to the fashion house.
Rita also collaborated with distinguished contemporary art gallery Galleria Ca' d'Oro to select pieces by Italian artist Marco Grassi and Lorrenzo Perrone that are evocative and offer a sense of wonder. The pieces in collaboration with Rita’s selection of Jean Paul Gaultier furniture pieces, together create a cross-section between fashion, art and design at the highest level, a true depiction of “French art de vivre”.
