2025 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival “Happiness In Love“ Lan

The "Happiness in LOVE" section in the Lantern Festival represents the joy and fulfillment that love brings, aligning with the Department of Civil Affairs’ initiative to promote marriage, childbirth, and happy families.

Taichung City is composed of 29 administrative districts across mountainous, coastal, rural and urban areas, each with its own unique cultural and historical heritage. This year’s Lantern Festival takes place along a 300-meter-long road, designed in a serpentine shape when viewed from above, symbolizing the fluid and graceful nature of the Year of the Snake. The section features 29 district-themed lantern installations, integrating local architecture, deities, landscapes, and produce, creating a romantic and dynamic cityscape that highlights Taichung as a vibrant and livable city.

The main lantern installation standing five meters tall, inspired by God of Love (Yue Lao) at Lecheng Temple, Taiwan’s most revered matchmaking deity, symbolizing the theme of love and relationships. Yue Lao holds a red thread, representing human connections, and is surrounded by matchmaking books and peach blossom trees, enhancing the romantic ambiance. A light and music show every 30 minutes transforms the atmosphere with dynamic effects, immersing visitors in a captivating experience.

The lantern section also features interactive installations, including temple and heart-shaped sensor lanterns, allowing visitors to participate in blessings and love-themed interactions. These elements strengthen emotional connections and create a warm and inclusive experience for all ages.

Beyond a visual spectacle, this festival fosters community bonds and cultural appreciation, inviting visitors to experience Taichung’s traditions, celebrate love, and create lasting memories.
