For the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, Taiwan faced a challenge: how to assert its identity and champion gender equality on a global stage while excluded from official proceedings. Our answer was “Taiwan Main Stage”—a conceptual event that transformed a diplomatic gathering into an immersive, multi-sensory narrative of resilience and hope.
The visual Identity drew from Taiwan’s authentic palette—red for courage, green for growth, gold for achievement—anchored by the butterfly, symbolizing both the nation and women’s transformative power. This cohesive branding informed every design element, creating immediate cultural resonance and thematic clarity.
At the heart of the experience was the HOPE Immersive Performing Arts Program, created by artist-composer Chia-Hui Lu. Using real-time technology, a live multimedia piano performance was synchronized with surreal storytelling visuals of Taiwan’s endemic species, producing the original works “Sunflower” and “Butterfly Orchid.” This powerful seamless fusion of music, digital art, and technology elevated the audience from passive viewing to emotional immersion; reflecting Taiwan's values of peace and love with the aim to inspire everyone to become a messenger of hope.
The Taiwan Women’s Power Exhibition showcased Taiwan’s leadership in gender equality—ranked 1st in Asia and 6th globally—highlighting achievements in the economy, legislation, political participation, STEM education, and anti-violence reforms. Engagement was deepened through an interactive butterfly collage, the Taiwan “Island of Hope,” co-created by guests as a living artwork of collective transformation.
The evening culminated in a candle-lighting ceremony where over 200 officials, Global Leaders, representatives from Global Nations, NGOs, and UN affiliated groups raised their “Lights of Hope” inside “Boxes of Hope” filled the venue, creating a heartfelt visual of unity. Speeches from global leaders, including Taiwan’s former president and international dignitaries, amplified the message across 32 parallel events, and live-streamed to extend impact beyond the room.
"Taiwan Main Stage" proves branding can be art, diplomacy, and activism in one. This is our vision for a more equal world, brought to life through extraordinary creativity.
