Inspired by Chinese landscape, Casa Hill closely combines the Chinese artistic conception with the needs of the family. In terms of three generations, their lives are supposed to be intertwined while independent at the same time just like the curves. On the 1st floor, there are the public space, living room and dining room, for the whole family. While the 2nd floor is private for the young couple. As designers, their studio is filled with books and material boards, guaranteeing them enough space for creation and brainstorming. In their leisure time, the young couple tend to invite their friends to the tatami area next to the bookcase atrium, which, according to them, is such a calm and soothing area. And the 3rd floor is for the elderly couple therefore provides independent entrance and all the functions. As one of the collections of the family, the four-meter-long wood slab extends to the tatami by the window and complements with the fishing light.
To some extent, Casa Hill explores the application of Chinese culture in terms of spatial design in modern times. Learning from the method of traditional Chinese gardens, "to borrow scenery" , two interior atrium space is set up for not only spatial but also visual contact. Connecting the living room on the first floor and the studio on the second floor, the background wall of TV stretches upwards, intertwined with the second-floor space through cascading curves. Expressing the concept of "thousands of cliffs and rivers competes", the upper and lower layers borrow scenery from each other, which draws unique interior landscape. Additionally, the bookshelves next to the tatami on the second floor are also stacked on top of each other till the mirror on the ceiling. Because of the reflection, the bookcase appears to be four-floor high, which meets the conception of the poem by Li Bai "river quiet as mirror reflects the moon, clouds flowing in the sky seems to be a mirage". Between the virtual and the real, Casa Hill builds an unique interior landscape as the metaphor of spectacular mountains and rivers of China.
