Me.ring is a wearable device that allows a user to quickly declare their willingness to share their digital presence and personal information within specific locations, and subsequently signal acceptance of relevant transactions.

The form factor allows the interface to be securely on your person and use biometrics to establish your identity. A simple twist adjusts the type of data being offered, allowing the user to choose settings that govern who can access the data, how it can be used, and the types of data to be utilized.

Tapping a button or gesturing allows you to put your personal information to work like a credit card swipe. This means that wearers can also use the Me.ring to acknowledge requests or close transactions without having to pull out their phone to open an app. A small switch allows one to quickly silence data, like having your credit card safely tucked in your wallet.

Imagine, you lost your coat while shopping. That moment was likely caught on security cameras. A lost-and-found app could scrub all local feeds for your likeness and help you find where you left it. But to do so, they need your permission to use your likeness and access the feeds. A contract needs to be set up quickly to use facial recognition for only this purpose, and then to forget it. This is what a data marketplace is for. A quick twist of the Me.ring acts like a credit card swipe, giving permission to use only Likeness.data to find your coat. You walk away warmer knowing neither your coat nor your likeness has been lost.

A data marketplace allows us to place a better value on these kinds of features. It gives a more properly scaled medium of exchange rather than utilizing money. Everyone can produce data. Using it as a means of exchange for a digital lifestyle promises a kind of equity not present in today’s internet. We envision the Me.ring or something like it will evolve as the data marketplace evolves. And with it, a new view on privacy and digital lifestyle.
