Natural light is allowed to be harmoniously introduced into the interior. While various natural environmental factors were blended together to bring health benefits to people, an ideal residence meeting the expectations of the client is designed with the approach of “the less is the more,” where a tone of simplicity is comfortably embedded into natural materials.

First of all, in terms of spatial structure, the designer does not impose a clear demarcation in the interior space, but maintains the combining function within. The introduction of natural light renders the space light and transparent, and the applications of suitable hues bring smoothness and harmony.

Secondly, in terms of utilization of materials, through the gray mineral paint, hand brushes and plaster are combined to create a pure, natural, distinct and bright atmosphere. The unique crystalline nature of the mineral paint has a high-water vapor permeability, allowing “breathability by permeating into holes in the walls to enables water vapor to be released effectively.” The ingredients of the paint are safe without any harmful substances, thus helping reduce the respiratory allergies and respiratory disorders suffered by the client’s daughter.

Thirdly, in terms of curved shapes, the space is designed in pure curved shapes, such as conical and cylindrical shapes. Instead of pillars with sharp edges, all corners are modified with circular shapes, so that the original pillars of the building are transformed into stylish columns. The conception of the harmonious "circular" design comes from the circular thinking in the philosophy of the universe and life.

Overall, this design emphasizes practicality and functionality with the aim of achieving simplicity and durability. Seeing that the client’s family has always lived by the beach, the designer specially adopts the shapes of “arc” and “wave” as the spatial vocabulary for the narrative, which continues the client’s sentiments for the surrounding. For the client, the design vocabulary of curved shapes signifies the sea waves, symbolizing the traces of the home. Meanwhile, the use of the arc elements complements the beams and columns in the space harmoniously, forming a unique atmosphere that represents family reunion and cohesion.
