Soaking in The Seasons

This project is a self-built single-family multi-story residence. The appearance of the European-style inclined roof, plain walls, red tiles, small garden, and quiet path echoes the verdant mountain ridge at the back.

The inclined roof opens with a dormer window to provide ventilation and light for the loft, which is set as a yoga room.

The deliberately enlarged terraces on both sides of the second floor of the building blur the boundaries of the real walls inside, allowing homeowners who are looking forward to relaxing during their leisure time to enjoy the four seasons and get close to nature.



Considering that the room is usually only for two people, the layout configuration used together is mainly focus on the sharing of light and scenery, avoiding unnecessary cutting that may compress the field of vision. This layout design also helps to enhance mutual interaction between the homeowners.

Each functional unit of the house is divided according to the floor: the public area (the hallway, living room, and open kitchen) on the first floor, the bedroom area on the second floor, and the yoga room on the loft.

The selection of materials in the whole case focuses on healthy, non-toxicity, skin-friendly, easy maintenance, and cleaning. It also meets the necessary recognition of American country style, such as the retro tiles used in the dining and kitchen area, the floral wallpaper in the bedroom, earth paint, pine ceiling, old wooden floors, etc. These elements bring a sense of richness and naturalness in daily life and show a sense of ritual in different seasons. Through the layout of soft and hardware, every minute and second of people living with the space is poetic.
