ZHEJIANG FEIDIE AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURING HEADQUARTERS

Located in Yuhang District of Hangzhou, the project is only 500m away from Xixi National Wetland Park. According to its context, the headquarter applies those unique natural conditions into this physical site as a kind of physical material to restore the essence of architectural phenomenology with users’ experiences and activities, implanting the intellectual exploration for a complex of ecology, wisdom and creation.



With the design strategies of ‘Landscape Borrowing’ and ‘Landscape Gardening’, all the buildings in this industrial park are arranged along the periphery of the site to create an open central landscape. The overall layout also constructs a polycentric theme courtyard by the volume and block inserted, forming endlessly visual experiences. The east entrances detached from ground creates the urban space to stimulate regional vitality. Moreover, the design scheme cuts ‘landscape gaps’ in the massive volume, which applies the wetland scenery into the alternating layers and gaps to reduce the pressure of the urban interface and to blur the boundary between buildings and environment of this organic park.



The interaction between architecture, environment and people triggers emotions to approach multi-dimensional scenes. Therefore, the design scheme tries to create the ultimate spatial and aesthetic experiences. Also with the ‘Landscape Borrowing’, the project employs Xixi Wetland into the site through strategies of top layers of back sets, the intersected and overlapped blocks as well as detached from the ground. Internally, the project reduces the volume to create a fluent and vivid form; and eliminate the pressure on the urban interface externally for the regional linkage. The integration of contemporariness and locality becomes a kind of site memory finally which can be read and recognized.
