BWL Taichung is a dual-purpose destination spanning two floors and 11,300 square feet in the heart of Taichung, Taiwan. One level welcomes customers for product exploration, wellness consultations, and community events; the other supports employees with an open and collaborative workplace. This interplay of public and private realms defines the project’s spatial and emotional balance, framing two complementary worlds within a single narrative.
Inspired by the vertical rhythms and rounded forms of traditional Taiwanese temples, the design reinterprets these cultural references through fluted joinery, sculptural walls, and refined vertical details that heighten spatial perception within modest ceiling heights. As in a Chinese garden, the journey unfolds as a poetic path — a brass floor inlay and matching ceiling light trace a flowing route that guides visitors through moments of discovery and quiet reflection.
The arrival sequence begins with a circular indoor garden beneath an artificial skylight, introducing an immediate sense of freshness and calm. The customer level centres around a sculptural display table inspired by mountainous landscapes, complemented by a flexible event hall divided by pivoting partitions for multiple configurations. Along the perimeter windows, a generous lounge opens to city views, integrating social scenes, a children’s corner, and an “Instagrammable” installation celebrating the brand’s evolving identity and community values.
The workplace floor adopts a softer, neutral tone, where timber textures and subdued colours encourage focus and collaboration. A central pantry anchors the space, surrounded by breakout zones that blur boundaries between formal and informal work. Across both floors, a palette of sandy neutrals, gentle greens, blush pinks, and metallic trims conveys tranquillity and strength while maintaining tactile warmth.
Sustainability and wellness guide every decision. Locally sourced, low-VOC, and FSC-certified materials reduce environmental impact, while efficient lighting and ventilation systems enhance comfort and performance. Acoustic treatments create calm, and biophilic touches — from indoor planters to the lobby garden — foster a natural sense of connection and restoration.
Blending holistic well-being with cultural sensitivity, BWL Taichung transforms a corporate centre into a refined sanctuary of health, craftsmanship, and human connection — a timeless embodiment of the brand’s architectural identity.
