ZHONGJIAO HAIHEXI

Located in Tianjin, a historic city shaped by the Haihe River and the convergence of Eastern and Western cultures, ZHONGJIAO HAIHEXI presents a contemporary interpretation of the city’s cosmopolitan heritage. The 219-square-meter residence draws inspiration from the architectural rhythm, cultural openness and refined urban character of Tianjin.

Rather than directly reproducing historical motifs, YHDQ Design translates local memory through furniture, artworks, textiles, materials and color. Dark wood, warm leather, refined metal details and geometric patterns establish a composed visual foundation, while amber, burgundy and warm gray accents introduce warmth and artistic tension.

In the open living and dining areas, furniture arrangements define different functions while preserving visual continuity and social interaction. Private spaces adopt softer textures, layered lighting and carefully curated objects to create a calm and intimate atmosphere. Art is treated not as an accessory, but as an integral narrative medium connecting the residence with the cultural depth of the city.

Balancing historical resonance with contemporary comfort, the project transforms Tianjin’s urban identity into a refined yet livable interior experience—one defined by restraint, richness and a lasting sense of belonging.

The design establishes a cultural translation system through material, color, furniture and art, rather than relying on literal regional symbols. The order, proportions and decorative rhythm found in Tianjin’s historic architecture are abstracted into contemporary furniture silhouettes, geometric patterns and curated compositions.

Furniture defines functional zones without interrupting spatial continuity, allowing the public areas to remain open, social and visually connected. In the private rooms, tactile fabrics, warm lighting and collected artworks respond to emotional comfort and individuality. A consistent material language unifies the residence, while subtle shifts in color density and texture give each space its own identity.
