Where Fashion Meets Art - Laura Daili Collection Glass Poem

Glass Poem is a contemporary fashion collection exploring the poetic relationship between the human body and glass. Inspired by the transparency, fluidity, and fragility of glass, the collection challenges conventional perceptions of strength, revealing vulnerability not as weakness but as a conscious and resilient state of being.

Glass serves as a metaphor for the human condition—transparent yet enduring, delicate yet remarkably strong. Like the human body, it appears resilient until it reaches its breaking point. Symbolically, broken glass represents both the fragility of life and the collapse of the old, making space for renewal and transformation.

The collection was deeply influenced by the creative dialogue between fashion and glass art. Living and collaborating with glass artist Viktoras Dailidenas, I am surrounded by the process of glassmaking, where transparency, sharpness, reflection, and light naturally become part of my visual language. Together, we frequently present interdisciplinary exhibitions where fashion and glass merge into a single artistic expression.

Sustainability lies at the heart of Glass Poem. Every garment is reconstructed from existing materials, including vintage clothing, previous collections, production leftovers, and rejected garments, ensuring that nothing is discarded. Rather than being treated as waste, each material is transformed into a new contemporary form through craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

A distinctive feature of the collection is the integration of recycled architectural window glass. Discarded glass is carefully cut, melted at temperatures of up to 1000°C, and kiln-formed into sculptural corsets, handbag details, buttons, hats, and other accessories. These handcrafted glass elements extend beyond fashion—they function as collectible wearable sculptures that can also be displayed as interior art objects, blurring the boundaries between fashion, design, and contemporary art.

Glass Poem reflects a philosophy where sustainability is not simply an environmental statement but an integral creative process. It celebrates transformation, craftsmanship, and the beauty found in imperfection, demonstrating how discarded materials can be reborn as timeless objects of artistic and emotional value.
