Chengdu Jiaozi Courtyard Towers

Chengdu Jiaozi Courtyard Towers is located at the heart of Chengdu’s Financial Center, adjacent to the Tianfu International Finance Center Twin Towers and Jiaozi Ecological Park. The mixed-use development includes office spaces, serviced offices, retail and a conference center.

The surrounding nightscape is largely defined by conventional linear outlines and media-rich facades. In response, MoA proposed a lighting strategy of “restraint, integration and contemplation.” Rather than competing with the visual intensity of its surroundings, the project creates a quieter presence within the city. The design is based on the traditional idea of “roundness in spirit and squareness in form,” using light to interpret local culture in a contemporary way.

Precise colour-temperature zoning distinguishes the different functions within the complex, while lighting integrated with the building’s facade responds to the texture and depth of traditional Sichuan bamboo weaving. The result is a distinct nighttime identity that remains connected to the surrounding urban context.

The project does not seek to dominate the skyline. Instead, it creates a moment of visual breathing space within the dense Financial Center, allowing the building to maintain its own character while remaining part of the larger cityscape.
