ELEMENTAL Day Surgery Clinic

ELEMENTAL is a day surgery clinic in Dubai conceived as a complete healthcare environment where medical precision, architecture, and emotional experience are treated as one integrated system.

The project encompasses approximately 1,900 sq m of interiors across three levels within a 2,500 sq m site. The existing villa was comprehensively transformed to accommodate a highly complex medical program, including two operating theatres, treatment and consultation rooms, dental facilities, recovery areas, patient rooms, sterilization, VIP spaces, reception and waiting areas, a café, retail zones, offices, and supporting functions.

The design concept is based on the Four Elements — Earth, Water, Air, and Fire — interpreted through materials, textures, lighting, forms, and atmosphere rather than through literal decorative references. Each element contributes to a distinct sensory identity while remaining part of a coherent architectural language.

A key objective was to move away from the conventional perception of a clinical environment. Instead of creating an institutional medical space, the design introduces warmth, tactility, sculptural forms, natural references, and carefully controlled lighting to support a calmer and more intuitive patient experience.

The patient journey was considered from arrival through consultation, treatment, recovery, and departure. Public, clinical, staff, and service functions were carefully organized while maintaining the visual continuity of the concept.

ELEMENTAL demonstrates how healthcare design can extend beyond functional requirements. Architecture, interior design, lighting, materials, landscape, and medical planning operate together to create an environment that is technically rigorous yet emotionally considered — transforming the experience of a day surgery clinic into something more human, memorable, and restorative.
