The project is located in Gongshu District, Hangzhou, within the inner ring road, belonging to Huafeng Area. Supported by ecology and public transportation, it is an urban complex integrating the functions of residence, commerce, culture and entertainment.

The design team is committed to creating a piling up valley to invite people to enter a curious natural world, with integral, clear form and texture of the space and shaping a new spatial experience within it.

Throughout the living pavilion, the experience is balanced by the obvious differences in atmosphere, light and texture, from the hidden sky light at the top of the valley to the well-lit discussion area by the water. The juxtaposition of rise and fall, interior and exterior, ground and sky or city and nature, evokes the similar feeling of a visit to the valley.

Light is a medium, or a material. The design team uses the light to shape the space so as to create a variety of light atmosphere. The light and shadow reflect the level of space, as well as the permanence, presenting a scene where time, nature and people are co-creating.

Space is the container of light. Their encounter produces the changes of the mood of the space and also touches people's emotions. The sand table area is illuminated by the input of daylight from the valley rift above, creating a calm and reflective area for viewing and conversation, as well as a social gathering area.

The side facing the window provides an opportunity to re-understand the external environment after a simple replenishment. The relationship with the sky, the presence of plants and the sound of running water make the moment.

Sky, fire and shimmering exist in the nature, but neither has artificial light. Instead of being independent, the former ones are constantly changing. With the addition of the dimension of time, all of them are the element to create space. This is the key factor to distinguishing them, so the designer hides the artificial light source and names it after Light Hiding.
